Last weekend we were honored to photograph the Marxmiller – Foster Wedding. Ken “Foster” and Jennifer go together like vodka goes with water, sugar, and lemons (the wedding party knows what we’re talking about here). Just like the Yucca cocktail (recipe here) Foster and Jen blended two beautiful families on October 19th, their wedding day.

Their love story developed somewhat serendipitously through Jennifer’s career as an early childhood teacher. However, it would be years before the spark that ignited their relationship would find it’s way to their door – after they became neighbors.

The weather was brisk, but the sun teased by peeking out at opportune times to warm our skin. The trees surrounding Our Lady of the Lake catholic church in Mahomet, IL were adorned with leaves of yellow, red and brown. The courtyard provided the perfect serene backdrop for Foster and Jen to come together for the first time on their wedding day as we captured the First Look.

Jennifer was relieved to have elected for a First Look – five minutes before she excitedly made her steps toward her soon-to-be husband, his back turned to her, she was a bundle of nerves and anxiety. We captured the moments following that first embrace and watched the transformation unfold as the stress and frustrations of the day melted away. Two minutes into the First Look, Jennifer turned to Amber and announced with great relief “I feel so much better now!”

A traditional catholic ceremony united the two in marriage and included breathtaking serenades lovingly performed by Jennifer’s friends whom she has worked with for years. The massive windows bathed the church in natural light and the love in the sanctuary emanated from the pews like a warm embrace. Through the community of their family and friends and the prayers of Monsignor Ramer, the couple was lifted up in grace as they entered a new chapter in life together and as a family of five.

Because Foster and Jen chose to have a First Look, they were able to wrap up all of their photos before the ceremony, which left them with plenty of time before they were to arrive at the reception. Jen briefly pondered stopping off at Lake of the Woods to get some more photos of the wedding party, but this option was quickly cast aside for the much more exciting venture to downtown Champaign for cocktails and Guido’s famous nachos!

The reception was held at Elks Lodge in Savoy, IL and we arrived to a decked out dance floor boasting vibrant colors blasted out through amazing LED lights that were provided with the DJ package purchased from Party on Productions. The couple quickly went from their high-energy introduction complete with Illini foam fingers to cutting the cake and then sat down for a mouth-watering catered buffet.

After a special first dance, the real fun began and the rest of the reception was devoted to having a great time. Party on Productions infused the party with innovative twists on the traditional wedding reception itinerary and we had a blast watching the shenanigans.

Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Foster – may your Happily Every After be everything you ever dreamed of.

Love & Blessings~

As a special treat… here is a fusion video we put together, played to the song “Kenny and Jenny” danced to for the first time as husband and wife.
